Finding Inner Peace
Difficult times have come across all of our lives, sometimes halting us in our tracks. We've all found ways to survive, to make it another day, to bear the burdens of our lives... sometimes we discover our greatest sorrows and enemies on the inside. The journey of psychotherapy can help us honor and make peace with the parts of us that have been abandoned, scorned, or ignored. A new self can emerge in this process to lead us towards inner peace.

What happens in psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy looks different from every provider and patient experience. There are 4 varieties of therapeutic styles that I specialize in. Talk therapy is the simplest form in which the client brings in weekly concerns and receives counseling or guidance. Psychoeducation is the learning of symptomatic etymology, underlying causes, or theoretical techniques among other topics. Coping skills development is the active coaching and practice of ways to manage feelings, thoughts, or behaviors that are problematic. Depth oriented process therapy is a way to recovery from difficult memories, relational conflict, family of origin trauma, or anything that causes significant distress through intensive techniques. Each client is unique and treatment plans are formulated individually to meet each person's need.

Finding the right therapist
Who I treat:
From stress/burnout to depression/anxiety and the depths of trauma, I work with the individual or family in finding relief from the symptoms that keep one from getting past their past. I also specialize in treating substance use as many have sought to survive with the use of chemicals or behaviors until they discover a safe way to cope.

Theories that I use:
My theory integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, expressive arts, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Why seek therapy now?
The most difficult part of existence can sometimes be the confrontation of shame and the self-perceptions that seek to destroy us. Fear and anxiety seek to protect yet sometimes become the greatest hindrance. The shadows of our traumas leave impressions on our relationships and experiences that seem to keep us in the grips of despair. Through a deeper understanding of what makes each of our own lives uniquely human, we can find hope through witnessing our own stories.
